Vintage Boho Wedding Shoot - A Quintessential Romance...Gold Coast Vintage Wedding Photography

"Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same."

- Emily Bronte, Wuthering Heights

Call me old-fashioned, but there's just something quintessentially romantic about a vintage boho wedding.  What comes to my mind is a vision of a beautiful, happy couple swooning in each other's love and wrapped in a warm, glowing, swathe of sunshine and light.  I imagine a balmy afternoon and their faces being tenderly caressed by a gentle, soothing breeze.

This couple are oblivious to everything around them, but for the sound of sweetly chirping birds;  the gentle, rhythmic sound of water flowing over rocks of the river bed;  the warmth of sunshine on their faces and...each other.  Everything around them is filled with beauty and simplicity.  In this vision...this world...time stands still.  And yet, it's moving in slow motion.

Ahhh...I'm such a hopeless romantic.

"I have for the first time found what I can truly love - I have found you. You are my sympathy - my better self - my good angel - I am bound to you with a strong attachment. I think you good, gifted, lovely: a fervent, solemn passion is conceived in my heart; it leans to you, draws you to my centre and spring of life, wrap my existence about you - and, kindling in pure, powerful flame, fuses you and me in one."

- Charlotte Bronte, Jane Eyre

You see, when getting married, most women have a vision of romance.  This is not necessarily my personal vision but I see it - and I want to help women create that vision with a little bit of my own creativity thrown in.

For those women who want a re-enactment of a classic love story, what better way and opportunity to create it than on their wedding day where they get to play the leading lady.  I think it's the best ever hustle that a woman has ever created...convincing a man to lavish money and love on them, and to create a real-life fairy tale.  And as your wedding photographer, I get to be your fairy godmother so that at the end of your wedding day, you get to record your fairy tale with pictures!  This way, you can relive your fairy tale over and over until the end of your days.

So basically I got to create my own vintage boho wedding...love story. I had an awesome creative team (credits at the end) and the fortune of having the most beautiful couple as my bride and groom...Josh and Dani.  Best of all, we had fun bringing it all together in the beautiful Currumbin Valley!

Here's a glimpse of some of the photos from the day.  I haven't finished processing all the images, so keep an eye out for a few more photos over the coming weeks.  Just click on the photos below to enlarge.  For more photos of the shoot, please visit my Wedding Photo Gallery.  To book your own fairy tale wedding with me, you can go  to my Wedding Packages and Contact page.

Weekend Whisperings...Time to Slow Down.../Vintage Styled Photography

"Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth, find resources of strength that will endure as long as life lasts."- Rachel Carson

This weekend sees me back down in what has become one of my favourite places...Murwillumbah, NSW.  It's such a beautiful place, and not just for it's scenery...mountains, rivers, cane fields, beautiful sunsets, and the background of Mt Warning.

But also the people are just so friendly and laid back.  There's quite a relaxed, country feel about this place. The town of Murwillumbah feels like you're coming home to a place that you can put your feet up  and be yourself.  Take your time, take everything in.  Of course, nestled between the Tweed River, mountains and cane fields gives this town such a warm, inviting feel that is enlivening yet restful at the same time.  I fall in love with the town everytime I visit.

How fortunate that friends Karen and Stew happen to live there.  I've been making the most of being able to stay with them and I'm grateful that I have a place that I can call in and take time out. Which is exactly what I'll be doing this weekend.

My weary soul needs time away from the hustle and bustle without time pressures or the constant domestic calling as a wife and mother.  It's an important time for me to rest...to think and contemplate and put my thoughts down in my journal.  It's also about setting down some plans for 2015. And making time to catch-up on some reading and stuff that I'm always too busy to do.

As a creative, I really value this time and it's necessary for my ongoing growth and my ability to create beautiful images for my clients.  These times provide a source of inspiration through moments of silence and contemplation.

I know it's crazy at this time of the year, so I hope that you too get the opportunity for some alone-time to stop...to appreciate...to be grateful and to allow time for yourself and time to reflect and honour your place in this beautiful, crazy world of ours.

Have a lovely weekend!

Engagement Shoot in Magical Murwillumbah - Kyle & Christina...Brisbane Engagement Photography/Gold Coast Engagement Photography

Kyle and Christina enjoying a beautiful Murwillumbah sunset with Mt Warning as the backdrop

The last weekend saw me in Murwillumbah to do an engagement photo shoot for Kyle and Christina, who have lived there for three years.  They chose this particular area and I'm so glad they did.  It really is magical, and the great thing is, the location is so close to the heart of Murwillumbah.  And I managed to find this perfect spot (pictured above) and with the permission from the owner of this beautiful paddock I was able to capture some stunning images at sunset for Kyle and Christina.

As a side note, the chair used in the above image is actually one handed down by Kyle's great grandmother.  I spotted it in Kyle's mother's (Karen) lounge room whilst visiting there, and thought it would be perfect for our shoot in the paddock.  You may remember Karen, whose wedding I helped shoot back in June. Karen and I have become great friends through this whole experience and I'm so happy that I get to share in the experiences of her family and children through photography.  This is what I love about being a portrait and wedding photographer - the people I get to know and meet and the places I get to see and enjoy.

I asked Kyle and Christina to approach this session as a special time to relax and bask in each other's company.  Engagement shoots are meant to express a couple's love for each other, but in a more relaxed and organic way before their more formalised wedding day.

And relax they did!  There was a lot of time for them to spend just walking, talking and sharing personal moments alone (apart from me being there). It made a welcome change for a couple who spend much of their time working long hours, and little time to get out and enjoy the beauty that is on their doorstop.

So I'm sure that Kyle and Christina gained a much deeper appreciation of where they live through that afternoon of just walking, talking, hugging, holding hands and of course, snatching some kisses along the way.

Anyway...here are the rest of those teasers they've been waiting for!

Enjoy!

More Sweet Words...Wedding Testimonial...Brisbane Wedding Photography/Gold Coast Wedding Photography

Kerry is an amazing photographer who manages with her keen eye and her post-production skills, to find seemingly simple moments, and turn them into meaningful memories to last a lifetime. Kerry wanted to know which settings were most important to us, so she worked with us before our big day, then did her very best to ensure those images were taken on the day. She listened to us, our needs, our desires…and she added her artistic talents to create our treasured memories. We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Kerry to anyone who wants a highly skilled, passionate, fun and easy-to-work-with photographer who delivers results. Thank you, Kerry...from the bottom of our hearts.
— Karen & Stewart Bache, Murwillumbah, NSW

Thanks to Karen and Stew for this lovely testimonial. XXX

I'm always appreciative that clients take time and thought to write these words down.  And personally, I love to know that what I do is making a difference to someone and they appreciate my work and my efforts.  Working with people and helping them achieve the photos and memories they love is what I am passionate about.

So just as a special thanks to Karen and Stew, I put together a quick little video of a few of their special moments, showing just how much love there is between them.

Enjoy!

Karen & Stew's Wedding Photos & Gallery.../Brisbane Wedding Photographer/Gold Coast Wedding Photographer

"Every story is beautiful, but ours is my favourite"

- Author Unknown

So here are some of Karen and Stew's photos (my selection) from their wedding held late June in Murwillumbah, NSW.   It was a beautiful wedding and I had a ball shooting it!  The fact that I can call Karen and Stewart friends, and having got to know a few of their family and friends, definitely made it all the more enjoyable and not so much 'work'.  They are all such a great bunch of people...friendly and so much fun!  And even though things didn't go quite according to plan, Karen kept a wonderful smile on her face and just went with the flow of things and was happy and calm all day! As for Stew, well he seemed pretty calm and cool the entire time too.

These photos are a combination of my own, as well as two other photographers, Andrew Swansson and Simon Thorley.  This gallery is firstly to allow easy viewing of Karen and Stew's favourites all in one place and also to give due recognition to each individual photographer. There are also different albums within the gallery so you can go directly to whichever part of the wedding day you'd like and make it easier to view.  Photos in my albums show both colour and black-and-white images.

If you wish to order any photos, please go to the gallery to order.  And please share any of your favourite photos with family and friends!
