Photo-Bombed!...Brisbane Family Lifestyle Photography/Truth Seeker Images Family Photography

The problem with shooting family lifestyle photo sessions in popular locations like the Southport Spit, is that you have to compete with other photographers for the best spots, and contending with people walking in and out of your scenes.  But we weren't expecting being photo-bombed by this little Jack Russell terrier!

Anyway...the unexpected always makes for interesting and playful shots!

Family Beach Photos - Online Gallery...Brisbane Family Lifestyle Portrait Photography/Family Portrait Photography Brisbane

A relaxed, candid photo taken under the jetty.  Everyone was laughing at the antics of Rosie, the dog

Cuteness needs no words...meet Rosie, who kept us all entertained

Ending the session with the ocean and jetty in the background

I can't believe it's been two weeks since our family beach photo session with Jacqui, Des, and daughter Brie. Oh...and Rosie the dog - the other important family member.  The recent proofing session with Jacqui and Des flew by as we were pushed for time, but they both managed to choose their favourite images, which was difficult, considering they had quite a few to choose from.

I always find it interesting how a clients' favourite photos are quite different to mine.  We all see things differently and I can never figure out why people choose different 'favourite' photos. But the important thing is, they see something they love.  It's usually something unknown to yourself only they can understand - like a look, expression or feeling.  The images that clients choose will often have a meaning that is special or significant to them that you may be totally unaware of.  And that's to be expected.  These things as a photographer you can never know.  That is why I tend to provide a variety of images that may look similar, but will offer varying perspectives.

So here are the Jacqui and Des' selected images.  Just click the link to go their online gallery. I hope you enjoy them.

'Life is a Beach' - Teasers...Brisbane Family Photographer/Gold Coast Family Photographer

"At the beach life is different. Time doesn't move hour to hour, but mood to moment. We live by the currents, plan by the tides and follow the sun."

- author unknown

For Jacqui, Brie, Des and their cute little pooch, Rosie, alot of their time is spent at the beach, and in this particular spot at the Southport Spit, in and around the Gold Coast Pumping Jetty.  So it wasn't unusual for them to request their family photos to be taken here.  There are a lot of happy memories attached.

The weather has been unpredictable and we weren't even sure whether their photo shoot would proceed.  But luck was on our side, and it turned out to be an ideal day for portraits...cloudy and with some breaks in the clouds with some lovely, though shortlived colour at sunset.

I really pushed this lovely family to get in all the shots they wanted.  Everyone had fun, including me, but by the end of the afternoon we were all quite exhausted!  And the star of the day was definitely Rosie, who was amazingly well-behaved.  She played and joined in everything and then when we needed her to be quiet, she was quiet and just sat!

So anyway, here are some teasers for Jacqui and Des.  Hope they both like them and I hope you enjoy these images as well.

Feel free to share this post and pics and you can now PIN all photos to Pinterest as well.

It's Good to Be Silly.../Brisbane Pet Photography/Brisbane Lifestyle Portrait Photography

Mix a little foolishness with your serious plans. It is lovely to be serious at the right moment.

Something caught Scooby's serious attention, so Sharyn and Tracy thought they'd join him.

Something caught Scooby's serious attention, so Sharyn and Tracy thought they'd join him.

Then they both cracked up....

Then they both cracked up....

Well I promised some 'not-so-serious' shots of Sharyn and Tracy.  So here are a some more shots. There are actually quite a few 'silly' pics.  Sharyn and Tracy are a very happy-go-lucky couple and love to have a bit fun and laugh at themselves.

So this shoot was a lot of fun and we spent a fair bit of time laughing at all the silly things they both did and said.  Yes, they wanted the nice couple shots but I was told in no uncertain terms that both of them liked to joke around and have fun and they wanted that to reflect in their photos.

Consequently, I took a lot of sequence shots, catching them both during serious and silly moments and sometimes going from one to the other and back again.  Needless to say, I stayed a tad longer than what I would normally do for a standard couple/family shoot.  I think it got close to 3-4 hours later and it was getting dark and I thought I should head home to my little family. Oops! :)

Sharyn and Tracy also love their pets!  So we got quite a few of mainly Scooby (pictured) in some photos doing what dogs do best...looking cute.

Even sillier shots to follow, but I'll finish with one more of Scooby.

**P.S.  Would you like to have photos taken of your family and pets, but don't really like the idea of driving to a location?  Then why not have them taken at home like Tracy and Sharyn in an environment where you and your family (including your pets) feel comfortable?  The more relaxed you are, the better chance there is of capturing all of you at your best!

Beverley Hills (Not) Chihuahua... /Gold Coast Pet Photography

Beverley Hills Chihuahua

Beverley Hills Chihuahua

Not-so-glamorous Duffus Dawg (the first image is flipped)

Not-so-glamorous Duffus Dawg (the first image is flipped)

The top pic is Duffus in his glory days as my husband calls him...'Beverley Hills Chihuahua'.  Miss Phil loves to dress him up.  He just sits there and looks nonplussed.

The bottom photos are of Duffus Dawg after a stressful morning at the vets yesterday.  He's not a very cooperative pooch when it comes to vets and we have to muzzle him to take an examination.

Duffus has what is called as Cherry Eye.  It's something to do with the eyelids and is a gland that bulges. Unfortunately it can only be fixed with surgery which is not inexpensive. Reading about it though has me worried, as information says that it can also occur in the other eye.

So on Friday he's off to day surgery to have the bulge pushed back in and here's hoping all goes well and we have no further complications.  The difficult part is applying the anti-biotic ointment to the eye 3-4 times a day.  I have to sneak up on him when he's sleepy and squirt the stuff in his eye and then rub his eyelids together to make sure it gets in. Also, every time he's outside he comes back with a face caked with dirt where he's tried to rub the ointment off.  I had to bath him last night because he was getting filthy, rolling around in the dirt.  The other alternative is buying him a muzzle, but even that can prove tricky, so I've also resorted to placing a bit on my thumb and pretending to rub his head and swiftly wiping the ointment over his eye.

Oh the joys of owning a pet.  But we wouldn't have it any other way, and Miss Phil would definitely not be the same girl without him.  He really has changed everything around in our lives.  And for the better I might add.

There are a lot more laughs and crazy chases in the yard these days.  And at night it's just not the same without Duffus Dawg and moments snuggling in on the couch, peppered with fast-running paws chasing down some cat or bird I suppose in some dream, as well as loud, contented snores when he's fast asleep.
