"I'm not an Athenian or a Greek, but a citizen of the world."
I was recently talking about my visit to Melbourne with a friend and he described it as so cosmopolitan. I thought what a simple but great way of describing Melbourne. And I looked up the meaning of cosmopolitan. Could there not be a better description?
This is what Wikipedia came up with...
"Cosmopolitan may refer to:
- A city/place or person that embraces its multicultural demographics
- World citizen, one who eschews traditional geopolitical divisions derived from national citizenship
- Cosmopolitan, the idea that all of humanity belongs to a single moral community
- Cosmopolitan Society/Cosmopolitan City, where people of many ethnicities, religions and cultures meet and live in close proximity."
So this week's images are of lots of people and around Melbourne. People of all shapes and sizes and backgrounds. I like that description...Citizen of the World...definitely me. Though eventually I need trees, fresh air, mountains and open sky. I need to feel the bare earth beneath my feet.
And no street photography would be without black-and-white.
